Product Description & Reviews
The Video Devices PIX-E7 recording field monitor combines both powerful recording capabilities with an impressive suite of precision monitoring features. The PIX-E7 is the first and only 7-inch 1920x1200 on-camera monitor to simultaneously record both an edit-ready 4K Apple ProRes (.MOV) file and a smaller data rate H.264 (.MP4) file. The PIX-E7 offers HDMI inputs and dual 6G-SDI inputs, ideal for comparing and matching cameras. It also accepts external timecode via a BNC linear timecode input, and features a general purpose I/O connector for remote control. The PIX-E7 can record 4K from HDMI or 6G-SDI sources in ProRes formats up to 4444 XQ. ProRes master files are recorded directly to a removable, non-proprietary mSATA-based SpeedDriveTM, which may be easily plugged into any computer's USB 3 port for super fast file transfer - no docking stations, cables, or card readers required. Meanwhile the H.264 files, ideal for dailies, direct-to-web streaming and other applications, are recorded to SD cards. The PIX-E7 is designed to excel in the most extreme production environments with its die-cast metal chassis and an LCD protected by Gorilla Glass 2. With either its IPS touchscreen or tactile controls, all the PIX-E7's monitoring tools and scopes are accessible at the touch of a fingertip - guaranteeing precise focus, exposure, color balance, and framing. All PIX-E Series monitors operate off external 10 to 34 VDC or with two Sony L-mount batteries, which may be hot-swapped during recording without the need to stop operation. The optional PIX-LR audio interface accessory also offers renowned Sound Devices audio performance and design for the PIX-E7. The PIX-E7 comes with PIX-E PSU (power supply unit) and USB boot cable. The SpeedDrive is required and sold separately.
